We are working with Lynchburg Parks and Recreation to help coordinate the City’s first bioblitz!
What is a Bioblitz?
A bioblitz is a rapid inventory of plants and animals in a defined area over a defined length of time. This year’s bioblitz is in conjunction with the City Nature Challenge.
Formal Bioblitz activities at Ivy Creek Park are sponsored by ReviveLYH - a habitat restoration program in Lynchburg City parks. Restoration work has begun at Ivy Creek Park. We are inviting the public to help us collect some baseline data while exploring new nature and contributing data to the global science community.
Learn more about ReviveLYH and get involved with habitat restoration!
How can you get involved with the ReviveLYH Bioblitz?
Download and setup a free account with iNaturalist on your Apple or Android phone.
Take pictures or audio clips of WILD (not domestic or cultivated) plants, animals, and fungus around you.
Make your observations April 24-27 within city boundaries and/or help us identify project contributions April 24-May 10.
If you want to track our city stats, join our ReviveLYH Bioblitz project on iNaturalist.
Yep, that’s it!
If you want to learn with friends, you can also get involved with more organized activities, such as training, guided walks with naturalists, and identification parties! See below!
